Warrant: Minor traffic stops lead to Cato immigration raid

CATO, N.Y. — CNY Central has obtained the application for a warrant used by the United States Department of Homeland Security to conduct the raid and detainment of nearly 70 people at Nutrition Bar Confections on Sept. 4.

The warrant, granted by the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, explains how the Department of Homeland Security became suspicious that the business in Cato was hiring undocumented and illegal immigrants.

The warrant said that members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office encountered illegal immigrants on these dates who admitted that they did not possess proper immigration documents, but were able to present paystubs and W-2s from Nutrition Bar Confections or admitted that they were employed by the facility…
