DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV)–Maria Katayama, a retired police officer from Austin, Texas, lost irreplaceable belongings when a tractor-trailer carrying her possessions was involved in an accident on 690 in DeWitt on Nov. 26.
The accident, which occurred as Katayama was moving her household items to Montreal, was caused by what DeWitt police told her was “driver inattention,” not weather conditions, as initially reported by the shipping company.
