BREWERTON, N.Y. — Nearly 600 brave plungers dashed into the icy waters of Oneida Lake on Sunday morning for the 19th annual Oneida Shores Polar Plunge, raising money and awareness for Special Olympics New York athletes.
Event organizers say this year’s turnout is one of the strongest yet.
“We have about five or six hundred plungers this morning to jump into that cold, cold Oneida Lake, all for Special Olympics New York,” an event coordinator said. “It supports the athletes in their training, their travel, and their competitions.”…
