Syracuse freshman quarterback, four-time state champion transferring

Syracuse, N.Y. — Freshman quarterback Luke Carney is entering the transfer portal, syracuse.com | The Post-Standard has learned.

Carney played in four games for Syracuse. He threw for 22 yards and ran for an additional 28. Carney ran for a touchdown on the first snap of his college career.

Carney soared through Syracuse’s depth chart as a freshman, leaving fall camp as the Orange’s third-string quarterback. However, after Steve Angeli’s Achilles tear and Rickie Collins’ benching, it was walk-on Joe Filardi who became Syracuse’s starter…
