Shrimp sold at Price Chopper in New York recalled for potential radiation contamination

New York (WBNG) – More than 80,000 bags of frozen shrimp are being recalled nationwide after reports that they may have been contaminated with the radioactive element cesium-137, according to a recall from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.

The recall, issued on Friday, Dec. 19, comes from the company Direct Source Seafood LLC for the brands Market 32 and Waterfront Bistro for bags of frozen raw shrimp imported from Indonesia, the FDA said.

The recall impacts 83,800 bags of shrimp, with the FDA reporting that the shrimp may have been prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions whereby they may have become contaminated with cesium-137…
