Woman who escaped from burning Syracuse home remains in critical condition

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Fire Department said on Monday that a woman remains in critical condition following a house fire in the city last week.

The department responded to the fire at 105 4th North St. on the morning of Dec. 26. The department noted that a firefighter sustained a shoulder injury during the fire. He was evaluated and released from medical care, but he not been cleared to return to duty as of Monday afternoon.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire on the first floor of the house when they arrived on Dec. 26. The injured woman was the only person home at the time of the fire. She managed to escape the burning home before crews arrived…
