ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — In the twin tiers, there’s a lot of snow. And despite there not being a specific law in New York State about cleaning snow off cars, drivers could still get fines, points on their license, and more.
Drivers could get misdemeanors for reckless driving if their car isn’t fully cleared off. According to the New York Vehicle and Traffic law section 1212,
“Reckless driving shall mean driving or using any motor vehicle, motorcycle or any other vehicle propelled by any power other than muscular power or any appliance or accessory thereof in a manner which unreasonably interferes with the free and proper use of the public highway or any parking lot or unreasonably endangers users of the public highway or any parking lot.”
