New York snow alert as up to 10 inches forecast for 1 county

One New York county could receive up to 10 inches of snow overnight into Monday, with the National Weather Service issuing a special report amid the danger of snowfall.

Commutes could be impacted as 2 to 6 inches of snow are expected in most regions, with 4 to 10 inches possible in others. Essex County is under alert starting at 3:02 p.m. on Sunday through 7 a.m. on Monday after a “persistent, lake-enhanced snowband” formed across a portion of the county, which is located upstate.

“A persistent, lake-enhanced snowband has formed across portions of eastern Essex County, leading to very localized heavy snowfall. Four to 10 inches of snow has already fallen in the Port Henry to Moriah area, with another 2 to 6 [inches] of snow expected. This will impact the Monday morning commute for these locations,” the NWS wrote…
