The New York State Police have announced they are adding a new vehicle to their fleet of patrol cars.
Over the years, the New York State Police (NYSP) have used various types of vehicles to patrol roads across New York. In the 80s, they used the Chevrolet Caprice Classic, in the 90s, it was the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, and in the 2000s, the Dodge Charger, Chevrolet Tahoe, and Ford Explorer became popular.
New York State Police Add New Car to Fleet
The NYSP has announced that it is adding one 2025 Ford Mustang GT to its fleet and is expected to add additional 2026 models in the new year, according to a statement sent to the folks at Road & Track. The statement said that the NYSP will be adding the Ford Mustang GTs to assist in traffic enforcement on high-volume interstates and highways across New York.
The Mustangs are expected to replace the Dodge Charger police car after Dodge announced it will no longer manufacture the vehicle. The State Police confirmed that they will not be replacing all of the Dodge vehicles with Mustangs as they are moving toward using more SUVs for patrol vehicles, including the Dodge Durango, Ford Explorer, and Chevrolet Tahoe…
