Retired Syracuse Police officer announces campaign against Onondaga County Sheriff Toby Shelley

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A retired Syracuse Police officer plans to challenge incumbent Toby Shelley in the race for Onondaga County Sheriff.

Robert Lenhart, who goes by “RJ,” is seeking the Republican nomination to take on the Democrat in this November’s election.

In an interview with NewsChannel 9, Lenhart said, “Things need to change. Things need to improve. I have a very unique background, and I know I can do better.”…
