Syracuse School Board Member facing removal defends herself

SYRACUSE, N.Y — In her first public comments about the rare removal vote she faces from members of the Syracuse School Board, Commissioner Twiggy Billue on Friday evening spoke on the matter.

Billue, who was recently elected to a new term on the board, stood in front of supporters at The Well of Hope Church in Syracuse to say, “I respect the importance of the process underway now. At the same time I believe it is important to publicly deny any wrongdoing.”

Billue says she and her husband are empowered to make educational decisions for her grandson, who attends a Syracuse school. She says her grandson has endured years of bullying, without a resolution that is satisfactory to her family. “These incidents included verbal harassment and objects being thrown at him and other things that resulted in visits to the school nurse,” she said…
