Gas prices hit nearly five-year low, but Vermont still among most expensive

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The new year is off to a cheaper start at the pump, with the national average gas price reaching its lowest point in nearly five years.

According to AAA, the national average is sitting at $2.81 per gallon. The last time it was that low was March 2021.

But Vermont is still pricier, with an average of $3.02, the ninth most expensive of all the states. New York is the 10th most expensive with an average of $3.01. New Hampshire is sitting at $2.86…
