Hochul state address to focus on affordability, curbing antisemitism and reelection pitch

Poised to deliver New York’s equivalent to a State of the Union next week in Albany, Gov. Kathy Hochul is preparing her fifth State of the State address.

She is expected to stitch together a combined reminder of what she deems her accomplishments over the last four years in office, as well as a roadmap to reelection.

  • Typically delivered by mid-January, before her financial plan is due according to state law, Hochul has already revealed she will include plans to cut down on illegal 3D printing of guns and put money toward New York’s foray into artificial intelligence
  • She will also include a plan to curb antisemitism and other harassment outside houses of worship
  • Hochul’s budget last year stood at over $250 billion in combined state and federal funds, and Wall Street success and sales tax returns are expected to boost spending plans
