A winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 1:16 a.m. valid from 7 p.m. until Friday 7 a.m. for Oneida, Cayuga, Onondaga and Madison counties.
“Total snow accumulations between 4 and 7 inches,” can be anticipated according to the weather service. “Rain will transition to snow tonight which could lead to wet surfaces becoming icy as temperatures fall below freezing. There is potential for locally heavy snowfall at times tonight that could lead to higher snowfall accumulation the system that will bring the initial batch of snow will move out of the region Thursday afternoon though lake effect snow then develops. Additional snowfall accumulations are expected Thursday night into Friday morning.”
“Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes,” describes the weather service. “Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.”
