New Details Emerge in Salina Stabbing Case

New information has surfaced regarding a tragic incident in Salina, where Raoof Mustafa, 47, fatally stabbed his brother-in-law, Taiwo Ogunsola, on Friday (January 9). The incident occurred at a home on Sunflower Drive, where the two men lived in a two-family house. Mustafa allegedly believed Ogunsola was responsible for the removal of his children by Onondaga County Child Protective Services a few weeks earlier.

According to Syracuse.com, the stabbing took place on the front porch, and Ogunsola was rushed to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition, where he later died. Mustafa’s family claims he suffers from mental illness, which they believe contributed to the incident.

Following the stabbing, Mustafa barricaded himself inside the home, leading to a 13-hour standoff with law enforcement. During this time, he set multiple fires within the house, complicating efforts to safely apprehend him. Onondaga County Sheriff Tobias Shelley noted the unusual behavior of the fires, which did not spread as expected.
