As Micron prepares to break ground, Central New Yorkers share hopes and concerns

CLAY, N.Y. — Micron is set to officially break ground Friday on its massive semiconductor facility in the Town of Clay, marking a major milestone more than three years in the making.

The $100 billion project is expected to bring up to 50,000 jobs to Central New York over the next two decades and launch a years-long construction effort that leaders say could reshape the region’s economy.
