OCWA Nears Completion of Water Line Repair in Central NY

The Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA) is nearing the completion of repairs on a major water line serving six Central New York towns. The repair work, which began after a rupture on December 20, is expected to be finished by late Friday or early Saturday. This rupture affected 27,000 customers in towns including DeWitt, Manlius, and Pompey, prompting a mandatory water conservation order.

According to Syracuse.com, five of the nine new iron pipe sections have already been installed. Once the remaining sections are connected, the line will be pressurized and the water will be tested for safety. This process could take an additional 12 to 24 hours.

OCWA officials anticipate lifting the conservation order by Monday, provided the water quality tests return satisfactory results.
