Fire displaces families in Warners; Red Cross and GoFundMe provide aid

WARNERS, N.Y — An early morning fire in Warners on Friday has left ten people from five households displaced, as firefighters battled heavy flames and smoke. The Red Cross is currently assisting those affected, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Among the impacted residents is a couple who had lived in their home for over two years with their four children.

“The guy was outside screaming that there’s a fire. Get out, get out,” said Ashley LaDuke, a resident. “I wasn’t leaving without my cat. So we got one cat and the next cat and then ourselves. And in minutes, by the time I went back in, to make sure he was coming out, the whole entire living room was smoke.”…
