Crews battle apartment fire in cold weather in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Fire Department responded to an apartment fire on Emerson Avenue during freezing temperatures around 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

A second-floor window was broken. Dark smoke stains could be seen around it.

The fire department used ladders to get to the second floor. Firefighters were spotted taking burned items from the room and throwing them out of the window. The items appeared to be a blanket, a stroller and window screens. It’s unclear what the room was…
