Syracuse official addresses concerns over pace of water pipe replacements

Members of the Syracuse Public Works and Infrastructure Committee met on Tuesday. The conversation focused on the city’s effort to replace lead pipes. Some councilors were concerned the process was not moving fast enough.

City Water Commissioner Robert Brandt said that while he understands the concerns, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has given the city 10 years to complete the necessary work.

“We’ve given out over 6,000 Brita filters throughout the city, so we take it very seriously. Other that, I just feel people need to be patient,” Brandt said…
