Dump truck company owner suing construction contractor over “heartbreaking” broken promises to hire him

A dump truck company owner is suing a construction contractor after the company failed to hire his company for a project despite promises to do so.

Syracuse, New York dump truck company owner Larry Stackhouse says that Salt City Constructors LLC was hired by the state to rebuild Interstate 81 as part of a project “designed to help the local community and the minority community get ahead.” Salt City Constructors then told Stackhouse, the state Department of Transportation, and local officials that it would hire Stackhouse to fulfill minority participation and local-hire commitments.

According to Syracuse News, Salt City Contractors then assigned trucking and dump truck assignments to other companies not owned by minorities. Stackhouse says he spent about $450,000 on dump trucks and workers after learning of the plans to hire his company for the I-81 project. Stackhouse is now suing Salt City Construction for damages over lost profits and expenses, emotional distress, humiliation, and harm to his business reputation…
