Auburn man charged with felony forgery

Deputies arrested an Auburn man after investigators say he altered a stolen check from his employer and deposited it into his own bank account.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Stephen E. Kilts, 32, on Jan. 13 in the Town of Aurelius. Deputies charged him with forgery in the second degree, a class D felony.

Investigators say Kilts stole a check from his employer, changed the name on the check, and then deposited it into his checking account.

Kilts was processed at the sheriff’s office and turned over to CAP Court for arraignment, where he was released on his own recognizance…
