Woman identified 428 days after her body was found; cause of death still a mystery

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Police Department has identified a deceased woman 428 days after her body was discovered.

The police department identified the woman as Elisia Russell, 38, of Syracuse. Her name was released by law enforcement on Monday.

On the morning of Nov. 20, 2024, the Syracuse Police Department responded to a vacant house at 216 Furman St. for a report of a dead person. Officers found Russell “clearly deceased” inside it.
