SKANEATELES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Jan. 20 was the day that changed everything for the Evans family in Skaneateles.
When 20-year-old Thomas Evans checked an alert on his cell phone that said there was a fire at his address, he didn’t believe it until he looked up from across Skaneateles Lake and saw plumes of smoke in the sky.
“My heart sank to my stomach, and I thought, maybe, it could be possibly a different address, or it got mixed up. But I got numerous phone calls saying, ‘your house is on fire,’ and I never experienced that before,” Evans said. “It still scares me to this day.”…
