County agency buys one more piece of ShoppingTown, but dead mall’s future remains uncertain
Onondaga County’s development arm has purchased the former Sears store at ShoppingTown Mall for $4.5 million, more than the county paid for the main shopping center. So far, the county and its development agency have paid $8 million to control the vacant mall, including $3.5 million five years ago. The Sears purchase puts the county one step closer to controlling the entire property. But for now, the future of the shuttered retail center remains up in the air…
