Phoenix cops mistakenly shot dad after he subdued crazed man who broke into his home

A Phoenix Police officer mistakenly shot and killed a father after the family had called the cops to stop another suspect from hurting the family instead on Jan. 26.

The officer was identified as Jason Valenzuela and is five-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department. The Maricopa County’s attorney office have since charged 33-year-old Edgar Ledezma Garcia, the man who allegedly went inside the family’s home, on multiple felony charges. Garcia, who was armed, shot the home near 75th Ave and Lower Buckeye in Lavee, according to police. He later allegedly broke into the home and shot an occupant, but authorities have not specified not specify who Garcia allegedly shot.

But when police were called in, the officer shot the father, Christian Diaz Rendon instead. Phoenix News Times received public records that showed extended footage and audio of the day of the shooting from Phoenix Police Department’s “critical incident briefing.” Valenzuela reportedly shot and killed Rendon while he was sitting on top of Garcia…
