NYCLU report card gives Syracuse ‘F’ grade when it comes to lead prevention in water

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The New York Civil Liberties Union gave the City of Syracuse an “F” grade when it comes to lead prevention.

The report card said the city is failing with its legal and ethical obligations to provide resident’s safe water. The NYCLU said Syracuse Mayor Sharon Owens and Commissioner of Water Robert Brandt are to blame.

It gives Onondaga County and the New York State Department of Health an “F” grade, as well as NYS Attorney General Letitia James a “C-” grade, for failing to enforce and intervene with lead water laws. The Federal Government also received a “C-” grade…
