Syracuse, N.Y. — Joey Spallina is in his comfort zone.
As more than 10,000 fans watched the country’s top two teams battle in the second half, Spallina sprawled to the turf after a groundball battle. He rested casually for about 15 seconds, taking a deserved break.
In the rafters above Spallina are three retired jerseys, two of which sport the same No. 22 he now wears. Soon, Spallina will take over Syracuse’s all-time points record. One day, his number could be in those rafters…
