Auburn trades parking for gun range

Auburn will swap 18 prison parking spaces for police gun range time, according to The Citizen. City leaders struck a deal with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision tied to Auburn Correctional Facility.

Instead of paying rent for spots along State Street, the state will let Auburn police train at its firearm facility in Sennett for at least four weeks. City Comptroller Mary Beth Leeson said the range access will offset lost parking revenue with savings on training costs and time.
