SYRACUSE, N.Y. — One person is dead after a house fire in the city of Syracuse.
According to Chief Michael Monds of the Syracuse Fire Department, fire crews were called to the 600 block of West Brighton Avenue at 1:12 a.m. for a reported house fire. When they arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames, posing a risk to the next door home. Powerlines were down as well.
Firefighters noted a car was in the driveway, a detail Monds said is a common sign someone is home. Crews quickly entered the home looking for anyone trapped inside.
