An “exciting” new vampire movie franchise is rising out of Central New York.
Production wrapped in Syracuse last month on “Red Ink,” a newsroom thriller set in 1949 at a fictional newspaper office as reporters debate how to cover a “mysterious global virus” that turns out to be blood-sucking undead creatures. The story will actually be a prequel to an upcoming modern-day vampire heist movie, “Blood Bank,” according to filmmaking duo Benjamin J. Murray and Michael Christensen.
Murray and Christensen originally planned to shoot “Blood Bank” first in Syracuse, telling a story of survival and humanity “as an underground gang of dissidents attempt a daring raid on the city blood reserve.” But the schedule shifted, so they quickly came up with an idea within the new “IP” they created together. They had a limited amount of time to put together a story with limited locations, loved the style of 1940s movies, and wanted to create scenes with a continuous shot, leading to a “domino effect of ideas.”…
