Syracuse, N.Y. — While in Syracuse to film a movie, a familiar face did what many visitors do: went looking for a good place to eat.
Actor D. B. Sweeney stopped in at Apizza Regionale, the wood-fired restaurant from one of the founders of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, and came away impressed.
“The pizzas I had were outstanding. I won’t eat anywhere else while I’m here, that’s for sure,” he said while on the set of the soon-to-be-released film “Red Ink.” “The service, everybody was cheerful and happy, and it was just a great, great experience. I’m a pizza junkie, so I was in my element.”
Sweeney, whose credits include “The Cutting Edge,” “Eight Men Out” and numerous TV roles, said the restaurant’s name caught his attention — “apizza,” the New Haven pronunciation — and he wondered if Syracuse might be channeling a bit of that tradition…
