A Syracuse man is behind bars after being accused of fatally shooting another man at a local sports bar earlier this month — and he was caught thanks to a tip from the public.
Willie A. Hill Jr., 51, of Syracuse, was arrested Saturday (February 21) at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona in connection with the shooting death of Jonathan Pitts, 33, according to CNY Central.
The deadly incident unfolded on Sunday (February 8) at around 10:07 p.m., when Syracuse Police responded to reports of shots fired at Playmakers Sports Bar at 901 Park Avenue. Officers arrived to find evidence that gunfire had been exchanged. Shortly after, Pitts was dropped off at Crouse Hospital by a private vehicle, suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
