Central NY weather: Light snow now, 50s possible by Saturday

Light lake effect snow will continue through the morning hours across northern parts of Central New York before ending around midday Thursday, with additional accumulations of up to 2 inches in some areas.

The National Weather Service reports that steadier snow bands will occasionally drop into the New York State Thruway Corridor. While snowfall rates are expected to remain at one-half inch per hour or less, visibilities may be briefly reduced to around 2 miles in heavier bands.

Temperatures on Thursday will be cooler, ranging from the 20s to mid-30s across most of Central New York. The snow showers should taper off by midday as winds shift to the southwest.

Overnight lows will drop into the teens, with some single digits possible in the Tug Hill Plateau and potentially other areas under clearing skies…
