Syracuse, N.Y. — Mayor Sharon Owens Sunday said the city is seeking immediate legal action against the owners of Nob Hill Apartments following a deadly fire that tore through one of the complex’s buildings.
Owens said at a news conference outside the damaged building that the city will return to court to pursue further legal action, including seeking receivership. The mayor said she has contacted the state Attorney General’s Office to seek its help too.
“This is absolutely unacceptable,” Owens said. “Property owners have clear responsibilities. It is to keep it safe, it is to keep it clean, and to ensure that the rent people are paying is being used to maintain the facility.”…
