Starting over at ShoppingTown Mall: Onondaga County is seeking a new developer for ShoppingTown, the dead mall that closed in 2020 and was purchased by the county in hopes of turning it into a mixed-use community. The Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency is set to vote this morning to issue a new request for proposals from developers interested in taking on the 65-acre property in DeWitt.
Demolition set to begin at Great Northern Mall, but developer still looking for new partner: Preparations for demolishing large parts of the former Great Northern Mall will begin this week, according to the local developer who now owns most of the shuttered shopping center. Guy Hart Jr., managing partner of Hart Lyman Companies, plans to take steps to tear most of the million-square-foot structure down to make way for a massive residential, retail and medical complex. At the same time, Hart said he’s still searching for a new partner — and perhaps even a buyer.
