Second hotel owner pleads guilty to stealing more than $223,000 in taxpayer funds

EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A second hotel owner pleaded guilty to stealing hotel occupancy tax funding in Onondaga County Court on Thursday.

As part of her plea, Tarranuum Murad admitted to stealing more than $223,000 in room occupancy taxes before Judge Matthew Doran.

Now, Murad must pay back the owed amount. She agreed to pay the proper tax amount going forward. She was also sentenced to one year of conditional discharge, avoiding prison time as long as she stays out of legal trouble…
