Syracuse Man Sentenced For Role In Fatal Stabbing

A man involved in a fatal stabbing in Syracuse has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Marlon Mason, 52, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter for the February 2025 killing of 23-year-old Latommie “Tommie” Bell. The incident occurred on Richmond Avenue, where Bell was stabbed and later died at Upstate University Hospital.

According to court documents, Mason approached Bell with a sharp object and stabbed him in the chest. Mason was arrested in New York City shortly after the incident. He faced a potential 25-year sentence if convicted at trial but opted for a plea deal.

Prosecutor Caitlyn Buckman noted the significant impact on Bell’s family, who remember him as a loving individual. Mason chose not to address the court during his sentencing. He has a history of 10 prior convictions, including five felonies.
