State eases liquor laws to help bars

NEW YORK – On-premises retailers, including but not limited to bars, restaurants, and hotels, are now able to purchase wine or liquor from a liquor store after nearly a century of being limited to buying spirits directly from licensed wholesalers. The new state law took effect last week.

Retailers will be able to purchase up to six bottles a week from a liquor store, giving establishments an opportunity to restock their inventory in between deliveries or to make the purchase of small quantities of product…
