Sunday outage cuts National Grid power overnight to 2 Syracuse hospitals, SUNY ESF

Syracuse, NY — A flooded manhole caused a power outage Sunday that cut National Grid service to three major Syracuse institutions, the power company told syracuse.com.

Crouse Hospital, the Syracuse Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and the main campus of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry all lost power around 3:20 p.m. Sunday, said National Grid spokesman Jared Paventi.

Power wasn’t fully restored until 6 a.m. Monday, more than 14 hours later…
