SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Syracuse Police Department said the 22-year old man charged with bringing a gun onto the Syracuse University campus is being held on bail and the investigation is ongoing.
Syracuse Police Department Chief Mark Rusin said in a news conference Monday, March 9 that Mateu Healey-Parera was arrested Saturday, March 7. The university’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report shortly before 4 p.m. “about a man carrying a tan-colored soft case, which is commonly used to carry long guns,” Rusin said.
Healey-Parera was found in the 200 block of Waverly Avenue at the university and taken into custody by DPS officers without incident, Rusin said. He added that the suspect, who is from Mansfield Center, Connecticut, is a Cornell University student and does not attend Syracuse University…
