Enormous piles of ice crowd Oneida Lake shoreline as temps rise, then plunge (photos)

Sylvan Beach, N.Y. — Central New Yorkers flocked to Oneida Lake’s shoreline to catch the icy formations building along Sylvan Beach this week.

As the beginning of spring and end of winter battle for control of the weather, warming temperatures thawed Oneida Lake and strong winds pushed the remaining ice to shore resulting in a towering display of rock, driftwood and ice.
