SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A new pharmacy is coming to Syracuse’s Valley Plaza Shopping Center as a part of a larger effort to bring essential services back to the area.
The roughly 1,000 square-foot space, once home to CNY Tax Service, will soon be transformed into a pharmacy. Rhonda Vesey, the executive director of Food Access Healthy Neighborhoods Now, said the healthcare company McKesson Corp. is helping to bring the pharmacy to the plaza, at 4141 S. Salina St., as part of its Project Oasis initiative. The program’s goal is to bring pharmacies to underprivileged communities.
“They bring pharmacies into pharmacy deserts, but more than that they give the opportunity of a pharmacist in the community to own their own pharmacy,” Vesey said.
The pharmacy will be located a few storefronts down from the former Tops Friendly Market, which is also set to be redeveloped into a Super Imperial Market grocery store…
