SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Parts of Downtown Syracuse may look a little different in upcoming years. On Thursday, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced his proposal to expand the Convention District. If approved, part of this would include the jail and sheriff’s office to move. That move would be to Jamesville, as part of a public safety campus. This would then free up space in Downtown Syracuse for real estate opportunities.
“A Downtown that has the potential to attract foreign companies like Micron- we should be thinking about what headquarters are going to be in our Downtown. Not necessarily what prison,” said McMahon.
