Amid housing shortage, one CNY town shrinks proposed development: ‘We don’t want that much density’

Van Buren, N.Y. — A housing development proposed in Van Buren two years ago included 425 residential units, a mix of single-family homes, townhomes and apartments.

But town leaders, starting in 2024, nixed the apartments, which made up about a third of the proposed so-called Crego development.

Now, the slimmer plans call for 92 single-family homes and 200 rental townhouses on 100 acres off Crego and Tappan Street roads near the southern end of Baldwinsville…
