Former Syracuse radio host, news director dies at 66: ‘I had a good run’

A former Syracuse radio host and news director has died, according to his colleagues and friends.

Chris Barnes, whose decades-long broadcasting career included a year at NewsRadio 570 WSYR 106.9 FM, died Tuesday at age 66. In a Facebook video posted hours before his death, Barnes said he was at Reading Hospital in West Reading, Pennsylvania, with multiple health problems, including liver and kidney failure, and was told by doctors he had a fatal blood infection.

“I had a good run,” Barnes said. “I had a good run. I spent every cent I ever made… I would have rather saved some but you can’t take it with you.”…
