Micron will pay the bulk of cost for new water line to serve Clay chip plants

Syracuse, N.Y. – Micron Technology has agreed to pay about three-quarters of the price tag to bring water from Lake Ontario to its planned chipmaking facility in the town of Clay.

The main portion of the work is a new 9-mile pipe that would run parallel to the Onondaga County Water Authority’s existing pipe, which currently brings water from Oswego to Clay.

The new pipe will connect to the main line just south of Fulton and run to OCWA’s Farrell Pump Station in Clay. It could be the first segment of a 23-mile pipe that would run all the way to Oswego for Lake Ontario water if community growth warrants it…
