Boeheim’s Army and former Syracuse guard Buddy Boeheim are back; eye $2 million prize

Much like Syracuse basketball will face former Big East Conference foes in the non-conference portion of its 2026-27 schedule under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara, Boeheim’s Army will battle a former Big East rival in this summer’s The Basketball Tournament (“TBT”).

Boeheim’s Army, a collection of former Orange standouts and others, won the TBT back in 2021, claiming a cool $1 million as a result. The TBT, in 2026, will have a new format and features a $2 million, winner-take-all grand prize.

So far, former ‘Cuse guard Buddy Boeheim is committed to play in this summer’s TBT. Hopefully, we’ll hear more about other Boeheim’s Army players soon. Last summer, Boeheim’s Army was a No. 1 seed in the annual event, but it fell in the round of 32.

Boeheim’s Army, the Syracuse alumni team, is back for the 2026 iteration of The Basketball Tournament.

For the 2026 TBT, the tournament will include 16 teams: Eight alumni teams, such as Boeheim’s Army, and eight non-alumni squads, with them competing on two separate sides of the overall bracket. The alumni bracket will transpire on college campuses, while the non-alumni bracket will take place in Las Vegas…
