Artist Cable Griffith Takes You Where the Woods Get Weird

When walking through the Pacific Northwest’s woods, some may experience a lingering sense of unease.

That feeling inspires Burien artist Cable Griffith, who paints the ordinary with a twist: unsettlingly bright forests and occasional appearances from giants or UFOs hovering just out of view.

Griffith’s eerie, video game-influenced scenes have landed him commissions and gallery shows across Washington — from a glass tile mosaic series at the Redmond Downtown light rail station to exhibitions at the Tacoma Art Museum and the Museum of Northwest Art.
