A federal judge sentenced a former Auburn resident to over 12 years in prison on Monday for sending large shipments of fentanyl and methamphetamine to western Washington.
The Department of Justice said law enforcement caught Ryan Matthew Gennette, 42, shipping two large boxes containing seven kilograms of fentanyl pills, almost two kilograms of fentanyl powder and over 10 kilograms of methamphetamine to an address on Whidbey Island from Phoenix in June 2024.
Police replaced the drugs with fake ones, according to court records, and continued to monitor Gennette. Gennette was already “on law enforcement radar” for prior drug trafficking convictions, and the Department of Justice said he was also involved in sending firearms to drug sources connected to cartels in Mexico…
